HIGH-DEFINITION TV CHANNEL OFFERING
-- No extra cost to HD subscribers --
(Hamilton, Bermuda, February 5, 2009) - Bermuda CableVision announces that, effective today, it has added four very popular high-definition (HD) channels to its HDTV line-up. The four new networks include Outdoor HD, PBS HD, Speed HD and Weather HD.
Outdoor HD on Channel 445 is a high-definition network full of original programmes that are filmed, edited and broadcast in HD. Capitalising on the state-of-the-art technology, Outdoor Channel HD blends outdoor activities and picturesque locations. Outdoor Channel HD challenges the limits and boundaries of outdoor programming by placing an emphasis on variety and family-friendly outdoor activities.
From snowmobiling to sailing to recreational flying, the programmes on Outdoor Channel HD offer a wide range of shows for outdoor enthusiasts and thrill seekers. An example is Adventures in the Pacific. Host Bimini Wright travels around the world swimming with dolphins, hot air ballooning and searching for adventure on beautiful islands in the Pacific Ocean.
PBS HD on Channel 418 offers viewers from every walk of life the opportunity to explore new ideas and new worlds through television. Each week, PBS invites viewers to experience the worlds of science, history, nature and public affairs; hear diverse viewpoints; and take front row seats to world-class drama and performances. The broad array of programmes on PBS has been consistently honoured with the industry's most coveted awards. Teachers of children from pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade turn to PBS for digital content and services that help bring classroom lessons to life.
From racing and restoration to dirt bikes and low riders, it's all about speed on Speed HD (Channel 413). Original programming and world-class racing events put Speed fans in the driver's seat of non-stop action. With Speed HD, fans get closer to the action. Speed HD provides over 50 hours of HD per week.
Weather HD on Channel 403 simulcasts the entire Weather Channel Network in high-definition format. Weather Channel HD features enhancements to the popular local weather broadcasts, Local on the 8s, as well as unique and engaging original programming shot in native HD format, which includes Epic Conditions and Weatherventures.
Rollin Nathan, sales manager, Bermuda CableVision, says: “We're always looking for new ways to add value to our entertainment offerings and today we're delighted to add these four high-def networks to our channel line-up. Our HD subscribers will love the theatre-quality pictures and sound that these channels bring right to their own living room.”
High-definition television offers enhanced picture quality by providing much higher resolution images than in analogue and standard digital TV. In addition, HDTV offers a widescreen format and many HDTV programmes also contain Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound.
All four channels have now been added to CableVision's HDTV tier. The HDTV tier, which now includes 14 channels, is available for $12 per month. Customers who sign up for the HDTV tier must have an HD-capable television to receive this programming. For more information, visit www.cablevision.bm.
