CABLEVISION SUPPORTS HANDS OF LOVE AND WEST END, EAST END COMMUNITY IN HOLIDAY FOOD BASKET DRIVES
(Hamilton, Bermuda - December 22, 2009) Bermuda CableVision and its employees are reaching out again this year in support of two local charities that provide food baskets to needy families over the holidays.
For the fourth consecutive year, CableVision is partnering with Hands of Love, the community service organisation that has been delivering food and clothing to people in need since 1980. CableVision employees collectively donated non-perishable food items worth $1,000 to Hands of Love for the organisation's annual Christmas food drive.
CableVision has been supporting Hands of Love since 2005, when Fern Wade, Administrator of the organisation, was recognised with a Cablevision Community Service Award for her work in support of people in need in Bermuda. Today, Ms Wade accepted the donations from CableVision employees and expressed her thanks: “Our motto is, 'It's not about me, it's about we' and CableVision is demonstrating that commitment once again. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the CableVision employees who helped us put these beautiful food baskets together. In a year where we have seen a shortfall in donations, we're very grateful for CableVision's continued support, and we hope others will follow their example. It's not too late to help us ensure that needy families receive gifts this holiday season.”
CableVision also made a corporate donation to the West End, East End, Central Community's Annual Food Hamper Campaign. This organisation distributes food baskets during the holidays to less fortunate families and to the elderly across the island. Last year the West End East End Central Community organisation gave food baskets to 800 families. This year, they are hoping to reach 1,000 families. In addition to corporate sponsors, the company collects non-perishable food donations from food hampers located at Arnold's main road/Arnold's Maxi Mart, The Supermart, Whites and Lindo's.
The West End East End Community then supplements these items with fresh produce, meats, vegetables, a family sized turkey, seasonings and soft drinks.
Rollin Nathan, Bermuda CableVision's Sales Manager, says: “Both of these organisations, Hands of Love and West End, East End, Central, have been helping the less fortunate in our community for so many years and we are all inspired by their actions. We are extremely proud to be able to help and support these remarkable organisations, who are making sure that as many families as possible can enjoy a nice meal this Christmas. Happy Holidays to all.”
